Chapter 17

Moving on UP

So the final residents of Havarti Hall have moved out and headed back to the Real World. What sort of places have they found to rest their heads now that the dorm is no longer an option?

Kitty found a cute little cottage tucked in next to the big bridge that leads to the northern suburbs.

It's so tiny in fact, that it's hard for me to get a decent picture of the place. It's got a nice loft bedroom upstairs and a den downstairs that could easily be converted to a second bedroom. A surprisingly large kitchen with plenty of space for dining fills most of the bottom floor and a cute, compact bathroom tucks away in the corner.

Rory moved into his grandparent's old house, as there certainly wasn't room for him back at the old homestead. His grandmother was starting to find the stairs a little difficult, and his parents were concerned his grandfather might take a header into the pond in the backyard if he finally caught 'the big one' swimming there. So his grandparents handed him the keys and bought a nice little garden condo in Sima Raton.

Rory and I had a bit of a... 'discussion'... about his post graduate wardrobe, so he's not in the best of moods with me right now. Asking him for a tour would probably be a bad idea, so let's move on, shall we?

But first, how about a quick peek at the backyard. Definitely lots of room to raise kids, crops, and pets, no?

As you can probably tell, the girls are pretty happy about the new place they found. It's just down the road from Kitty's place, but it's certainly a lot larger.

I'm pretty happy with it myself, as it's the first house I've built that doesn't look like a bunch of boxes strung out together.

Yes, I realize it still looks like a big box, but it's supposed to. I actually built this one from plans I found in the internet. Yes, it was yellow in the plans too. If you'd like to get a better view of it, I've got some significantly bigger pics you can view HERE and HERE.

So let's take a tour, shall we? Oh, perhaps you'd like to see the floor plans first?

Ground Floor
Second Story

Like the Big Yellow Box? You can get your own copy of it here

The main room on the ground floor is shaped rather like a large L (or a lumpy square with a nubbin sticking out the top). Most of it is open to the second floor, where the upstairs hallway/balcony overlooks the living room.

You'll notice that things aren't lavishly furnished. Selene and Lilaea only had so much money when they moved out, after all. (I loaned 'em a couple kachings, but no motherloding)

The kitchen is long and sleek, with plenty of room off to the side for a dinette. However, there's a cozy dining room tucked off the end for a more family experience.

Both bedrooms are also somewhat L shaped, with a reading nook at one end and a built in wardrobe. Here we can see the reading nook in Lilaea's room and her bed tucked against the interior wall.

A view of the built in wardrobe, with the bed and lighting reflected in the mirror.

Lilaea's reading nook again. I kind of forgot to stick a bookcase next to it though. Not like she's a big reader but she does like to do that diary thing.

Downstairs, the bathroom actually consists of two rooms. One with the bathtub and the other with the toilet. Hopefully this will help prevent bottlenecks when one person wants to soak in the tub when the other really needs to go.

Selene finds the downstairs tub quite seaworthy.

This is Selene's bathroom upstairs. It's all one room, with a built-in tub-shower combo. We're... ah... seated on the biffy in order to get this shot.

Selene's bedroom is laid out the same as Lilaea's. Her reading nook is a bit larger, as the bathroom is slightly smaller. I remembered to include a bookcase at least.

A rather bland shot of the bedding and closet.

Here's the upstairs office, complete with desk and computer. The office has sliding doors to both the front and back patios. Here we can see the back patio, where the easels and telescope are kept.

And here's the selling point of the house, the front patio and all it's greenery. Just the place to relax and unwind after a long day at work.

So what do the girls do with themselves when they have all this space?

Why, play catch in the house, of course.

*facepalm*

Mao, didn't Aurora teach them better than this? Wait... *pauses a moment and thinks* Never mind... silly question.

But, hinting at the family relations that exist between these two, let me just say that Mao is very right when she says that there's something between them. Unrelated and now living on their own in my game, I found I had to watch 'Selene' very, very closely when Vlad showed up with the welcome wagon. ACR of course didn't help matters any. I will say that while Vlad will spin up various wants, 'Selene' will actually try to autonomously do them. I've only seen Vlad try anything once, and he got shut down right away.

And I swear, I've never had a sim look at the camera so often and so purposely before.

But anyway, while Selene was messing around with the welcome wagon, Lilaea got a call from her dance buddy Elmer, who invited her downtown on a date...

So she updated her looks and her wardrobe and headed out for a night on the town.

Trust me, you didn't want to see the things she grew up into. *shudder*

Ah, sisterly love.

I didn't realize until they did this that I'd dressed them both in stripes with black skirts.

Of course, to get to the taxi, Lilaea is going to have to make it past Decker, one of the neighbourhood wolves. Hope she's skilled in hand to muzzle combat.

Outtake Picture:

Lilaea, why are you gossiping to Elmer about Vlad and just what are you saying? Hmmm?

Outtake Picture:

Even strangers who have never met K2 and V have the hots for Vlad...

Lilaea found this guy pretty hot herself when she scoped the room. *shudder* Maybe I'll just move a couple of custom MBs into the neighborhood for the sisters (actually, Elmer isn't too bad once you get him out of that outfit and those glasses)

Nooo, Lilea!! Look at his NOSE! It's not the good kind of nose... run away, run away!

As for Selene and Vlad, yup yup... it is funny they reject/etc. Maybe they know it is "taboo", even in another game, ha!

Their house is VERY cool. I love it. Very fitting for them. :D

I love the house you built! I noticed you kinda skipped over the fact that Vlad was there at first....

Kind of scarey they talk about Vlad and don't know him...hehe.

Love all the houses, Keth! Hehe. Rory's domicile looks like it's ready for anything family-related. :O))

Dunno about that flower wallpaper in what's-her-name's house. I don't do flowers ... 'specially ones that big. :O))

I do like the "box-like" house even though it is very yellow. But it looks very functional!

And what is VLAD doing over there?!?!
