Chapter 16

What, you were expecting me to actually answer all your questions from last chapter right away in this one? Things have been going on elsewhere in Free Cheese and we need to catch up a moment with those.

K2 and Vlad weren't the only ones to move out of Havarti Hall, and a few new folks have moved in to replace them.

But overall, things have stayed the same. The residents are still hard at work, studying for their exams...

Still running late for their classes...

---

And still stalking each other in the showers. Some things never change.

---

And some things do. At least one of the Havarti Hall denizens has taken to phone stalking. Yes, Selene spins up a want to talk on the phone to one specific person every day. The want shows up like clockwork. I'll give you three guesses who it is.

But for the most part, everyone is doing well in their classes and are firmly entrenched on the dean's list. They're even pretty philosophical about it. "The world is our oyster," explained Adam one evening to his dorm mates.

Adam? He's one of the new guys. That gal in the pigtails, she's one of the new folks too.

Kitty Zane is a transfer from Cheddarwurst Community College. She's having some trouble adjusting to life at a 'big school'.

---

The poor thing feels like she doesn't have a friend in the world. The other new faces in the dorms don't like her very much.

---

But in truth, she does have one friend and she thinks he's dreamy. He doesn't think she's too bad herself. And she's not a angler either (certainly a lot better than he is).

---

Now, Rory's been a bit confused about his love life of late. He is just a simple farm boy, and sometimes the complex web of romance and relationships is a bit beyond him. But he's been getting a bad feeling of late. While his friends are all studying away...

The young lady who swears she loves him has been on the phone with other men. Several other men.

---

She told him it was just because she wanted membership to the secret society...

[Note: Yes, Officer Ramen got all pink hearts and 'sizzle' for Selene before he picked her up for the Society. I died laughing]

But Rory didn't have to jump through all sorts of hoops and 'chat up' a bunch of guys just to get accepted.

---

And Lilaea didn't get hit on by the arresting officer when her pick up time came around.

---

He just had this feeling that there were things Selene wasn't telling him.

---

Not like Rory was being completely up front to her about his own affections. He was finding more and more to like about the new girl, and it wasn't just that she liked to fish or that her eyes didn't glaze over when he started talking about composting and weeding and growing things.

Rory's bad feeling was confirmed one day after class, when he stumbled upon Selene being a little more than friendly with Secret Society Scott (who beat a hasty retreat).

---

Selene didn't see what the big deal was... that or she was confused by the rain. But then, her true affections have always lain elsewhere.

---

Kitty, who was also a good friend of Secret Society Scott's, decided it would be wise not to mention to Rory that she'd introduced the two when Selene first asked her about the secret society.

---

As the final hours of the final semester drifted away, Havarti Hall was abuzz with studying.

---

Though there was plenty of time between cram sessions for relaxation...

More stalking... (ah, that daily "Call Vlad" want)

and any other chaos that was waiting to occur. Yes, Kitty started this fire too. There have been 4 cooking fires at Havarti House: Vlad started one, the cook started one, and Kitty has started remaining 2.

But all the long, hard hours of sleep deprivation were worth it as everyone graduated with 4.0. I did have some serious concerns about Selene, since her semester class performance bar was most definitely not full when she lit out for her final.

---

Apparently her professor either has "stink" as a turn on, or else has no sense of smell. Why else would he have passed her with at least one of her needs so seriously in the red?

---

Now, I could show pics from everyone's graduation party, but in truth they all look the same. Change the people in the picture but the scene is identical. There were really only three things that went on at everyone's party...

Lots of video games...

Lots of dancing...

(That's Elmer, one of Lilaea's squeezes. She met him at one of the dance clubs downtown)

And lots of sitting around and eating. Yep, just change the people at the table, the people they're gossiping about (or spouting little pink hearts over), and the people hanging out in their bathing suits and you'll have a scene from everyone's party.

And why are there people hanging out in the kitchen in their swimsuits? Because of thing number four that went on at everyone's party... somebody got busy in the hot tub. Not that the hot tub isn't always busy, but for some reason people really like to... ah... 'use' it during parties. It pretty much guarantees a 'Good Time' rating but I do feel sorry for Remington when he has to clean it the next day.

And these two made a bee-line for the hot tub when they arrived at the first party. *facepalm* *shakehead*

But with that, I think we'll pause for the moment and take up the story of these four after they've transitioned back to the "Real World". We've still a ways to go before we're caught up.
